Randell Duguid, Unearthing Pathways
Registered Social Worker, Trauma Therapist, Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist

I am a Registered Social Worker, Trauma Therapist, and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist living and working on unceded Mi’kmaq territory in Epekwitk (PEI). My practice is client-centred, body-focused, and rooted in anti-oppression, with a passion for supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, survivors of sexual and relational violence, and those often excluded from traditional therapy models.
A major focus of my work is Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), a trauma treatment that targets the brainstem’s deep patterns to process attachment wounds and shock trauma. I often blend DBR with Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, where I’ve witnessed profound moments of insight and healing. Horses, with their incredible sensitivity to human emotion and nervous systems, have an uncanny ability to reflect, regulate, and respond to what’s happening beneath the surface. Their presence allows clients to access deep, unspoken truths—so much so that we often say, “You can’t make this up” during sessions.
I hold an MSW from Wilfrid Laurier University, with certifications in EMDR, DBR, and multiple Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy models (FEEL, Eagala, and Natural Lifemanship). I am committed to ongoing learning, decolonization, and community advocacy, including my role as chair of the Board for Women’s Network PEI and volunteer work with PEERS Alliance.
When I’m not working, I love exploring the outdoors with my pup, enjoying live music, geeking out about birds/animals in general and spending time with people who fill my heart.

Jeff Havenga, Serene View Ranch/True North Psychological Services
BA(Psych), BSW, MSW, RSW, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Practitioner

I'm Jeff Havenga, a Registered Social Worker and proud team member at Spirit's Whisper Ranch. I am a compassionate mental health professional dedicated to supporting clients through life's challenges. Utilizing empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based techniques, I tailor therapy to each client's unique needs. With experience in anxiety, depression, and trauma, I am to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and empowered.

At Spirit's Whisper Ranch, I integrate Equine-assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) into my practice. This experiential approach involves engaging with horses through activities like grooming, leading, and observing - all conducted on the ground. Horses, being highly intuitive and responsive to human emotions, offer immediate, non-judgmental feedback, helping clients develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and confidence. EAP is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, and other mental health challenges, as it fosters a unique connection that can lead to profound personal insight and healing.

Together, we'll explore your strengths, overcome barriers, and build tools to foster resilience and balance. I'm honoured to guide you toward a fulfilling and authentic life, utilizing both traditional therapeutic methods and the transformative power of equine-assisted experiences.
